Climate Alliance comments on the findings of latest IPCC report

Thomas Brose, Executive Director of Climate Alliance, explains, « The findings of the IPCC’s latest report cannot be ignored and the case to keep global warming to 1.5°C has never been stronger. While a select few profit by damaging the climate further, global changes are pushing livelihoods of many in the Global South to the brink. Municipalities can do much to curb climate change; Climate Alliance member cities and towns underlined this point just last week in their Barcelona Declaration on climate action. The IPCC report stresses the fact that actions of any one sector will not be enough but that, together, we can cap warming to a 1.5°C. In this sense, the concerted efforts of all governments at all levels as well as business and civil society are of the essence since, for many, the difference between 1.5°C and 2°C of warming is simply a matter of life or death. We all have a responsibility to scale up our efforts and work together for rapid and far-reaching change. »
